Transformed Lives

Dave was a drug dealer and addict who was arrested and served 21 months in a prison in Jackson, Michigan. After a long journey to meet Jesus, Dave’s life has been transformed dramatically. Only a few weeks ago, Dave was the first convert to be baptized by Cross Waves Church, a new church in the metro Detroit area that is already touching many lives across Michigan.

Churches throughout our great state are seeing transformation of lives.Partners in Advancing-CROPPED-26kb Summer is a time where many Michigan Baptists churches heighten their focus on reaching into their ministry focus areas to share the Good News of Jesus.

I have personally heard from numerous churches that are having record attendance at their Vacation Bible Schools (VBS) with decisions to follow Christ reported. VBS is so much more than decorations, crafts and recreation … it is about the lives that are transformed when they come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior.

I saw on Pastor Kayre Stanley’s Twitter feed last week that Mt. Zion Baptist in Pontiac was having an evangelistic block party to reach out and touch their community. I also saw on Pastor Greg Burdine’s Twitter feed that Faith Baptist in Adrian had a mission team in St. Louis.

Why would these churches do these things? Simply, to see lives transformed for Christ. Many of our churches are participating in fairs, festivals, special events and mission trips as a way to touch lives with the Good News of Jesus, so people can experience transformation.

In a phone conversation a few days ago, a pastor was telling me of the dozens of youth that had made decisions at their youth summer camp. Many of them were professions of faith to follow Jesus. That’s transformation.

A new church starter/pastor shared with me this week that they would be baptizing six new believers in just a few weeks. They are still in the earliest stages of starting the new church, yet they are seeing souls saved from the harvest. We rejoice with the angels of heaven for each new believer.

Our mission as a convention of churches is to be “Doing whatever it takes to see lives transformed for Christ through starting, strengthening, and mobilizing churches.”

Because of your regular Cooperative Program giving, you are a part of thoseCP_Header4 new believers that are being reached through the new churches being started across Michigan. You are a part of training VBS workers and other leaders to be more effective sharing Christ in their communities and on mission. You are a part of providing hundred’s of training workshops provided on our web training portal ( and the numerous of other resources provided together for churches and leaders.

You are part of helping lives be transformed across Michigan because of your giving through the Cooperative Program. Thank you for being “Partners in Advancing God’s Kingdom” through your consistent and sacrificial support of missions through the Cooperative Program.

Together we are seeing many lives transformed by the Good News of Jesus Christ.
